The Hawks 20 plus point underdog Hawks showed their Decatur pride by never quitting and and constantly fighting. This was a team who showed the ability to come back all season could not overcome a 10 point first quarter deficit as they fell to the Ben Davis Giants in by the score of 50-44. The Hawks did not score a field goal in the first quarter and trailed 14-4. After the slow start the hawks turned things around outscoring the Giants 8-6 in the 2nd quarter and 32-30 in the 2nd half.

In her last appearance in a Hawk Basketball career Kenzee Smith did not disappoint Kenzee had 12 points and 5 rebounds and 2 assist. Senior Vanessa Wilson finished her game and sensational career with 10 points and 4 rebounds and 1 assists. Last but not least Senior Cailin Barr finished with 4 points and 1 rebound and 1 assist. She had a sectional tournament that was phenomenal. Other key contributors were Maddie Wachnicki and Kenadi Brand. Maddie scored 7 points, grabbed 1 rebound and 1 assist. Kenadi added 5, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.

The Hawks season comes to an end but not without a fight. It was a season of ups and downs shown in the 12-12 record. The Sectional run to the title is testament to that fight.
They represented themselves and the Decatur community with enthusiasm, professionalism, and great character. Congratulation to the team on a job well done.
