Due to a rainout from earlier in the season and some complications with schedules, the Hawks fought bravely despite the challenges in the calendar against the Warriors at home on Saturday.
Some major shifts in the lineup pitted many players on the varsity roster against opponents that they normally wouldn’t have played, but they played well despite the numbers that ended up on the score markers.
At #1 singles, senior Seth Fitzpatrick was defeated by Whiteland’s Quinten Gillespie 0-6, 0-6.
At #2 singles, junior Dakota Atwood fell to Garrison Pelfree 0-6, 0-6.
At #3 singles, freshman Brayden Coffey made his varsity debut fighting hard but coming up short to Whiteland’s Ty McCullars 0-6, 0-6.
Doubles also struggled against the Warriors. At #1 doubles, senior Austin Hardin and sophomore Justin Wright fell to Whiteland’s Lane Stephenson and Dylan Gross 1-6, 0-6. At #2 doubles, senior Owen Wohlert and junior Nolan Spivey fell to Whiteland’s Wesley Hawk and Travis Robinson 1-6, 0-6.
The JV was unable to compete since Whiteland’s JV was scheduled earlier in the season to compete in a JV tournament at Franklin.
The Hawks are once again at home against Speedway Monday. Come out and support your Hawks!
