The DCHS Lady Aquahawks lost a hard fought battle at Whiteland Community High School on Tuesday night 130-52. Whiteland swept all twelve events of the women’s meet, but the ladies were able to secure six 2nd place finishes in the following events:
200 Medley Relay of Kelli Brock, Peyton Clay, Becca Jones, and Ayva Schmalz
Emma Gentry – Diving
Becca Jones – 100 Butterfly
Kelli Brock – 100 Freestyle
200 Freestyle Relay of Ayva Schmalz, Taylor Smith, Peyton Clay, and Jazmin Contreras
400 Freestyle Relay of Becca Jones, Taylor Smith, Jazmin Contreras, and Kelli Brock
“Our Lady Aquahawks stepped up to the challenge this evening and performed well throughout the meet” head coach Charles Grace stated. “Whiteland is a quality conference opponent and they challenged themselves to close the gap between the programs. Our team atmosphere was very positive, despite the result, and their positivity was rewarded with quality results. Many walked away from tonight with new lifetime best times. For a midseason dual meet, that’s very impressive.”
Swimmer of the meet honors for the Whiteland meet go to Sophomore Peyton Clay. Peyton swam to two lifetime best times in the 500 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke. Beyond the great time drops, Peyton led our team with her cheering and positive encouragement to the rest of our team.
The 2-1 Lady Aquahawks next compete on Thursday night against Beech Grove High School at DCHS. Meet starts at 5:30pm at the Decatur Township Natatorium! Come out and support your Lady Hawks!
