The Hawk win tonight 69-42 in the home opener. It was a night not only for the Hawks to shine but also a night to remember one of our own in David Wilson. David Wilson passed suddenly this summer and his daughter is and has been a key member of this Hawk basketball team for the last 2 years. Vanessa lead the Hawks in scoring with 13 points.

In an interview with Coach Gibbs he was asked what he thought about tonights performance? Gibbs was quoted as saying ” This is a special group of young ladies. They play hard, they compete hard, and they care about each other even harder, shown in the way they have supported their teammate Vanessa in the loss of her father.

In the game Izzy Burr had 12, Kenzee Smith knocked in 10 and Ajulu Thathu dropped in 9.
The Hawks travel to Perry Meridian next week. It will be a game of firsts. The first road trip for the Hawks, the first conference game for Perry Meridian ever in the Mid-State.
