The Lady Hawks had quite an intense game last night against the Lady Artesians! It was a very physical game for the Hawks. In the first half we had 15 shots on goal with only 3 shots against us. Just before the clock hit 15 minutes, freshman Lilly Aguayo sent a beautiful ball up the left side to fellow freshman Jacky Flores who took it to the top of the 18 yard box and sent it right in the back of the net. After that, the Hawks continued to battle with 19 shots on goal in the second half but couldn’t get another in. With just over 2 minutes left in the game, a foul was called on the Hawks on the outside of the left side. Unfortunately, we had a defensive breakdown and left a girl open in the middle to get a shot just past senior keeper Bailey Helms, bring it to a 1-1 game.

Not able to get a goal in, the Hawks go in to 14 minutes of overtime. Even with 12 shots on goal the Hawks couldn’t get one in the back of the net. They go on to win in penalty kicks after scoring 7 PKs and having 2 amazing saves by keeper Bailey Helms, who also scored her own PK just before the winning save. The Hawks scoring their penalty kicks were Jacky Flores, Lilly Aguayo, Madisyn Cannon, Jasmine Hermosillo, Naila Gomez-Spears, and Lesly Nunez. It was a great win putting us 5 & 0 in the Mid-State Conference and 9 & 0 for the Season! The Lady Hawks will be back at it Wednesday 9/18 at Mooresville. Don’t miss it!
