It was a tough loss for the Lady Hawks last night against their Mid-State Conference rivals the Plainfield Quakers. The Lady Hawks came out a little too nervous and flat which gave the Quakers the opportunity to get 2 goals in the first 15 minutes of the game. Determined to protect their goal, the Hawks buckled down on defense and shut down the Quakers offense the rest of the game. Senior keeper Bailey Helms really stepped up to make sure nothing else got in her net. She had 18 saves. In the second half, freshman Jameela Hydre Yusoff made a great run up the right side but was fouls just outside the corner of the 18 box. Freshman Jacky Flores stepped up to take the free kick and nailed it inside the back post side netting, scoring the only goal in the second half. Unfortunately, the Hawks just couldn’t get another in the back of the net.
“I am so proud of this team! They have accomplished so many great things that DC has never done before, like coming second in conference, beating Mooresville, and going undefeated for the first 10 games of the season, and the season isn’t even over yet. They have set the bar high for seasons to come.” – Coach Keith
The Lady Hawks will be back on their home pitch for the Marion County Tournament Monday 9/30 against North Central.
