The Lady Hawks came out ready to make history last night against their long time rivals, the Mooresville Pioneers. It was a very intense and physical game. The Lady Pioneers desperate to win, just couldn’t get much past our Lady Hawks defense and brick wall senior keeper Bailey Helms, who had some amazing saves throughout the night. The Hawks also unable to get one in the back of the net by the end of regulation time, put us into overtime. Battling to make one in, the Hawks end up in penalty kicks against the Pioneers.
To start us off, junior Madisyn Cannon nails hers in the back of the net. The Pioneers step up and make their first shot. Next up, Hawks senior Captain Lesly Nunez gets hers in, followed by Pioneers who shanks theirs over the top, then Hawks freshman Jacky Flores sends hers in the back of the net. Pioneers step up for their third shot but the Hawks senior keeper Bailey Helms steps up with a breathtaking save. To finish up with the win, junior Audrey Campbell places hers in the back of the net, winning 4-1 over the Pioneers.
This puts the Hawks 6 & 0 in the Mid-State Conference and 10 & 0 for the season. The Lady Hawks will be back at it Saturday in Greenfield for the Kickin Cancer Tournament.
