The Lady Hawks (4-3) showed the fight that they have shown all season, but just could not seal the deal as they fell to the Franklin Grizzly Cubs 52-43. The Hawks after getting down 8 in the first quarter, made up 7 of those points in the second period to only trail by 1 point going into at half time (26-25). The lead changed several times in the 2nd half but the Lady Hawks youth and inexperience in close games reared its ugly head, as they failed to finish off the Cubs. With a little over 4 minutes remaining the Lady Hawks trailed 41-42. The real story was that the Hawks would only score 2 more point the rest of the game.

Ajulu Thatha came to life in this game, pouring in 12 points on 6-11 shooting inside of the arch. She also added 8 rebounds. Issy Burr “PUT IN WORK” securing 10 rebounds. Kenzee Smith showed her “lockdown” defensive skill registering 7 steals on the night. Vanessa Wilson added 12 and Kyrstyn Dyson added her season high 7.

The Hawks will travel Lawrence North (8-1) on Tuesday. Decatur drew them in first round of this years Marion County tournament. It will be a strong test and a great challenge for the young Decatur Central Hawks varsity team.
