Decatur Central Hawks fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 11-1 loss to Whiteland on Tuesday. Whiteland scored on a double by Alex Reed, a double by Braden Reed, and an error in the first inning.
The Decatur Central Hawks struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Whiteland, giving up 11 runs, only 4 were earned runs.
Whiteland opened up scoring in the first inning, when Reed doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs.
Whiteland scored five runs in the fifth inning. Whiteland offense in the inning was led by Ryan Glithero, Tyler Wick, and Reed, who all drove in runs.
Luke Helton pitched Whiteland to victory. He surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out nine and walking zero.
Parker Harrington took the loss for Decatur Central Hawks . He went three innings, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out two.
Derik Profitt and Brayden Hazelwood each collected one hit to lead Decatur Central Hawks .
Whiteland saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Helton, Reed, and Reed each had multiple hits for Whiteland.
