After a tough loss on Monday against Perry Meridian, the Hawks were looking for a chance for some redemption and another chance at taking a victory. But this time the boys were on the road to Arsenal Tech. And like last year, the boys had high hopes.

After a late start due to traffic and construction, the match got underway and went relatively quickly on almost all courts, and after a bit of drought from wins the Hawks were finally able to snag a victory over the Titans.

#1 singles sophomore Charlie Tran took his first victory of the season over senior Jalen Walker 6-0, 6-0. #2 singles senior Will Sommers also was able to walk away from the courts with his first win of the season as well 6-0, 6-0 against junior Jason Solis. Both were able to finish their match within an hour and both boys played really well and made consistent shots.

At #3 singles, sophomore Nolan Spivey made his varsity return after stepping in as an alternate in the Mid-State conference, and his match was quite the long one. After taking the first set 6-4 against his opponent, junior Victor Huerta, he struggled to stay in points consistently during the second set and Huerta forced a third set tiebreak to decide the match. After a lot of good shots and longer points, Spivey fell to Huerta in the final tiebreak, 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (4-10).

Doubles also had a lot of success. At #1 doubles, junior Owen Wohlert and sophomore Ernesto Rodriguez faced off against senior duo Edgor Nolusco and Alex Lynns. They too made their varsity debut as a pair, and they played admirably together. With a lot of good communication and movement around the court, the pair was able to walk away with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. At #2 doubles, freshmen duo Connor Martin and Dylan Moseley also made their varsity debut and played admirably, walking away with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win over freshman Darron Johnson and junior Lucas Gordon.

All in all, it was a good night of tennis for the Hawks, and they are looking forward to their next chance at victory. The Hawks have their senior night celebration match at home against Lutheran on Thursday evening starting at 4:30. Come out and support your Hawks! It will be a great night and a chance to celebrate our seniors! Go Hawks!
