As you read this re-cap you’re going to notice that I have listed the opponent as Decatur Central. As many many of you know these qualifiers will not have a team total. Our athletes are trying to achieve qualfying times, distances, and heights that will allow them to compete in their respective events at the Hoosier State Indoor Relays in Bloomington, Indiana on March 24th. Today we took a small team up to Indiana Wesleyan University to compete in their #2 qualifier. Overall from top to bottom we had a pretty good day and start to the season. Do to some uncontrollables we only two lady hawks compete. Senior Nancy Aguirre took 1st place in the girls shot put with a throw of 40’6”. And Senior Julia Wohlert took 2nd place in the girls high jump with a jump of 5’5”, while also placing 4th in the girls shot put with a throw of 34’1”. On the boys side in the 3200m Michael Stinson took 7th place with a run of 10:30.64, and Mauricio Moreno placed 23rd with a run of 11:21.72. In the boys 60m dash the hawks went 1 and 2. Blayne Harrington took 1st place with a time of 7.05 and David McFadden took 2nd with a time of 7.26. The boys 4×800 ran a time of 10:22.37 taking 17th. The 4×200 placed 15th with a time of 1:41.58. The DMR ran a 12:36.86 placing 14th. In the shot put junior Dylan Rennick threw a toss of 44’6” placing 6th and senior Aaron Klawun placed 16th throwing 40’9”. As a staff we are very pleased with the way our student athletes performed. We are very excited for the upcoming season and we are looking forward to competing again next Tuesday at the Universty of Indianapolis.
