Whiteland Captures Lead Early To Defeat Decatur Central Hawks
Decatur Central Hawks fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 11-4 loss to Whiteland on Thursday. Whiteland scored on a triple by Helton and a double by Carrizales in the first inning.
The Decatur Central Hawks struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Whiteland, giving up 11 runs.
In the first inning, Whiteland got their offense started. Whiteland scored one run when Helton tripled.
Whiteland scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Whiteland came thanks to sacrifice flies by Helton and Brady Reed, a triple by Pelfree, and an error on a ball put in play by England.
Mcmahon pitched Whiteland to victory. He allowed five hits and four runs over six innings, striking out three. #19 threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Jared Thompson took the loss for Decatur Central Hawks. He went three and a third innings, allowing eight runs on ten hits and striking out two.
Decatur Central Hawks racked up six hits in the game. Devin Gross and Derik Profitt all had multiple hits for Decatur Central Hawks. Gross went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Decatur Central Hawks in hits.
Whiteland collected 14 hits. Pelfree, Helton, and Carrizales all collected multiple hits for Whiteland.
