Decatur Central Hawks Claims Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat Southport
Decatur Central Hawks took the lead late and defeated Southport 7-5 on Friday. The game was tied at five with Decatur Central Hawks batting in the bottom of the sixth when Austin Mitchell’s sac fly scored one run for Decatur Central Hawks.
Southport scored four runs in the second inning, but Decatur Central Hawks still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Southport came thanks to a triple by Lezon and an error on a ball put in play by Massey.
Southport fired up the offense in the second inning, when an error scored two runs for Southport.
Devin Gross led things off on the rubber for Decatur Central Hawks. He lasted four innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out two.
Massey got the start for Southport. He surrendered four runs on six hits over four innings, striking out three. Fidler and Lezon entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.
Parker Harrington went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Decatur Central Hawks in hits.
Lezon led Southport with two hits in four at bats.
