Decatur Central has named Andy Hofer as the new Head Coach for Varsity Girls Golf. Andy is a veteran Social Studies teacher and the Head Coach for DC Varsity Boys Golf, a position he has held since 2004. Coach Hofer is no stranger to the DC Girls program. He served as the Hawks leader from 2002 – 2014, before stepping away from the Girls Head Coaching role to spend time with his young kids.

Hofer was the top target to replace Head Coach Jeff Huffman, who has had recent success with the DC Girls Golf program, according to Director of Athletics Justin Dixson.  “Coach Hofer’s resume and experience speaks for itself. His knowledge of the sport, experience as a head coach, and his familiarity competing in our conference and sectional makes him the best candidate for this position,” said Dixson.  The Director of Athletics went on to say, “Coach Hofer is a tremendous golf coach, but his ability to teach and connect with our student-athletes will impact their lives far beyond the golf course.”

“It is an honor to return and I look forward to continuing the success we have had in our golf programs for the past two decades.”, said Coach Hofer. The Hawks graduated several seniors from the scoring lineup last fall, but return #1 letter winner Jessica Moran for the 2021-22 season.
