Marion Adams Flooring Athletes of the Month- March 2019
The Decatur Central High School Athletic Department in partnership with corporate sponsor Marion Adams Flooring is happy to recognize the dedication, perseverance, and success of Decatur Central student-athletes. Each month during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years, Decatur Central Athletics awards the “Marion Adams Flooring Athlete of the Month Award.” This award is given to one female and one male student-athlete who have displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous month. Marion Adams Flooring is proud to recognize student-athletes for their athletic achievements each month while supporting the Decatur Central Athletic Department.
The March female Student-Athlete of the month is D.C.H.S. Senior Kameron Arnold. Kameron is a member of the Lady Hawks Track & Field team. Although it is early in the season, she ran a sub 6 minute mile (5:54) for her leg of the ladies DMR at the Indoor Indiana Wesleyan meet. With this outstanding effort, Kameron helped her DMR drop their time by 20 seconds leading to a 5th place finish. Coach Tony Tate said, “Kameron is a great teammate and provides outstanding Senior leadership for the Lady Hawks.”
Senior Josh Gill is the March male Student-Athlete of the Month. The DCHS Senior is a very likeable and caring young man who plays for the Decatur Central Golf Team. Josh works hard every day to improve his game. So far this season, he has improved his 9-hole average by nearly 10 strokes. Josh looks to continue his hard work to further his and the teams overall success through the season. Although Josh is a full time student and athlete, he finds time and ways to give back to his community whenever he can. He is a member of the Interact Club, Decatur Centrals service learning club, helping organizations like the Goodwin Center and other local charities. In addition to that, he recently helped Habitat for Humanity on one of their build sites as part of the Choice Acedemy’s PEP class. Lastly, Josh participated with the DC Golf team in the Athletic Department’s initiative Hawks Helping Hawks. Josh and members of the team helped students at the Blue and Gold Elementary Winter Carnival. Josh has already logged nearly 20 hours of community service. “Josh is a true Hawk and his dedication to our community is an example to all. I am proud to have Josh as a member and representative of our team and Decatur Central High School” said Coach Andy Hofer.
