Hawks News · Varsity/JV Lady Hawk Girls B-Ball Travel To Lafayette

The lady hawks traveled to Lafayette to play in the Lafayette Shootout on Friday June 8.  Last summer when the Hawks played in this tournament they struggle to compete with the teams that faced. This summer was totally a different story.  In 4 games the varsity team finished 1-4. Each of the losses came with opportunities to win or tie on the teams last possessions.

Game 1 – Win vs Lowell (27-26)  after trailing by 9 at the half the Hawks fought back to a 1 point win

Game 2 – Loss to Munster (29-28) After trailing by 12 at the half the Hawks had a 12-footer at the buzzer to win.  Coach Selk drew up a great play to get a quality shot.

Game 3 – Loss to Lafayette Central Catholic (39-37)  Trailing by as many as 14, the Hawks made a run and had a chance to win it at the buzzer

Game 4 – Loss to North Judson  (36-34) Trailing by many 8 points the Hawks has a 6 footer at the buzzer to send the          game into overtime.

Coach Gibbs said ” I see a lot of improvement in just a few weeks.  More importantly the girls seem to be bonding better than in my first 2 season as head coach.”

The varsity roster consisted of Kenadi Brand, Lorena Williams, Izzy Burr, Ajulu Thathu, Vanessa Wilson, Mya Jackson, Reagan Trackwell, Cailin Barr, Alyana Allen and Maddie Wachnicki.
