Coed Varsity Athletic Training · PRIDE of Decatur Central Awards

The Decatur Central Athletic Hall of Fame will present two special awards between games of the DC girls-boys doubleheader against Franklin Community on Dec. 1. Pride of Decatur Central Awards will be presented to the family of the late Lt. Aaron Allen and to David (Doc) Rather.

The Pride of Decatur Central Award is a special honor recognizing a lifetime of work and dedication to the ideals that represent the best of being a HAWK.

Both honorees are well deserving of this accolade.

Lt. Allen, a 1997 Decatur Central graduate and varsity football player, was a Southport police officer killed in the line of duty on July 27, 2017. Accepting the award for Lt. Allen will be his wife Stacy and Southport Assistant Police Chief Bob Curl.

Dave Rather needs no introduction to anyone familiar with Decatur Central over the past half century. A 1967 DC graduate, Dave contributed and continues to contribute to the DC community in countless ways as a teacher, administrator, athletic trainer and mentor/friends to hundreds of young Hawks.

The public is invited to attend the games, show their DC pride and see these awards presented on behalf of these outstanding individuals.

GO HAWKS!
