Hawks jumped out to a three score lead at half and continued to roll in the second half to beat Plainfield 63-28 on Homecoming at Devere Fair Stadium on Friday night. Interception returns from Demontai Franklin (60 yds) and Jason Allen Jr. (45 yds) blew the game open for Decatur Central. Calvin Thomas’ 6 yd run got the Hawks on the board first. Bryce Jefferson ran for two scores and hit Tyrone Tracy for three scores in the air (35, 30, and 15 yds). Kenny Tracy sealed the scoring for the Hawks with a 4 yard run in the 4th quarter. The Decatur Central defense held a Plainfield team who was averaging 400 yards to 272 yards on 53 plays. Jefferson finished 10-15 for 163 yards and 3 passing scores. Tyrone had 88 yards on 5 catches and 3 receiving touchdowns and 80 yards on 11 carries. Decatur Central will travel to Greenwood for another Mid-State Conference match up on September 29th.
