Brad Gillum hired to lead Hawks Harriers
Brad Gillum has been hired as the new boys varsity cross country coach, and comes to Decatur Central with 17 seasons of experience coaching the sport, along with track and field in the state of Indiana. Most recently, Coach Gillum trained his alma mater 1A Wes-Del to a semi-state appearance, having won 8 of their 9 invitational competitions. Coach Gillum will be teaching chemistry in the New Tech learning community and is excited about the opportunities at Decatur Central. He and his wife TyAnn live here in the district and have two children, ages 8 and 11 that love to play sports.
“Never in my 25 year career have I entered a program that has so many runners ready to go to the next level. Almost all of them have taken the lead already at some point, and that is very promising. I am excited to be in the building, teaching at a school that has a lot of heart, and I believe we will continue to grow a strong running program here,” said Coach Gillum.
DC Athletic Director Justin Dixson said, “We welcome Brad and his family to Decatur Township schools. His experience in the classroom, coupled with his knowledge building cross country programs, will be a great asset to our community and student-athletes.”
