Decatur Central Hawks took the lead for good in the ninth inning to capture a back-and-forth game from Franklin Community by a 17-13 score on Wednesday. The game was tied at 13 with Decatur Central Hawks batting in the top of the ninth when Jared Thompson singled off of Davis, driving in two runs.

Decatur Central Hawks collected 14 hits and Franklin Community had 16 in the high-scoring affair

Franklin Community took an early lead in the first inning. Heuchan singled on a 1-0 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

In the top of the seventh inning, Decatur Central Hawks tied things up at 13. Alex Mitchell drove in a run when he walked with the bases loaded.

Decatur Central Hawks scored six runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Cooper Harrington, a walk by Josh Ham Jr., a error, a error, and a walk.

Franklin Community scored four runs in the fifth inning. Franklin Community’s big inning was driven by a double by Miles and a home run by Maclennan.

Jared Thompson earned the win for Decatur Central Hawks . He tossed four and a third innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, striking out one, and walking one. Davis took the loss for Franklin Community. He went three innings, surrendering four runs, three hits, and striking out three.

Harrington started the game for Decatur Central Hawks . He went four innings, giving up six runs, eight hits, and striking out two. McCullough started the game for Franklin Community. He tossed three innings, giving up eight runs, and eight hits.

Home runs for Franklin Community came when Maclennan homered in the fifth inning and Lee homered in the third inning.

Thompson, Bradley Brehmer, Harrington, and Bryce Lewman each collected multiple hits for Decatur Central Hawks . Brehmer and Thompson each managed three hits to lead Decatur Central Hawks .

Lee, Peddycord, McCullough, Johnston, Heuchan, and Davis each collected multiple hits for Franklin Community. Lee led Franklin Community with three hits in five at bats.
