This Saturday Terre Huate North hosted the 71st annual IHSAA State Finals at Laverne Gibson Cross Country Course, and, for the first time since 1983, Decatur Central High School was represented at the event. Unusually warm weather at race time slowed the race considerably, and Austin Scott ran a 16:55 for 76th place in the 204 athlete field.
Austin’s state finals appearance was an early season goal, and he continually pursued excellence by attending every preseason workout and maintaining perfect practice attendance and unwavering focus and ambition throughout the duration of the season. Austin enjoys incredible support from his parents and teammates who each are a reminder that excellence is never achieved alone.
Today was an exciting day for the Decatur Central Cross Country program in general and for Austin Scott in particular. We look forward to watching Austin Scott continue to strive for exceedingly more ambitious levels of excellence in the second half of his high school career.
